Get in My Belly!!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you probably know I had gastric sleeve surgery in December 2016. Since then I have tried to find healthy, whole food alternatives that don’t taste like yuck and are easy on my stomach. Some people (like my hubby) have had the gastric sleeve surgery and can eat anything. Me, not so much. Consequently, I end up living on Siggi’s yogurt, drool, but I am trying to find other tasty things to add to the tummy line-up. Today I happened upon a blog called Real Food Whole Life written by a lady named Robyn. She had a post about Creamy Pumpkin Hummus. Read it. Loved the idea. Made it. FREAKED OUT because it was soooooo good! Knew I had to share it with you!

Have you ever been trolling Pinterest and found a really great looking recipe that you knew you just had to try. You go to the store, buy all the stuff, make it and are so utterly disappointed that the new dish goes right in the garbage? Me too. That is why I was so excited when I made this hummus. Guys, it was so easy (and except for the tahini) pretty cheap to make. AND IT ROCKS! I literally dumped everything into the Ninja, turned it on and bam! Awesomeness! I seriously wished I had a bigger tummy so I could just keep eating it. Try it, I promise you won’t be disappointed!!IMG_2903

Another thing I have been playing with is a replacement for dairy in my coffee. Now, coffee is a food group for me. If I didn’t love Jesus, I would go the the Universal Church of Coffee because I love it so much! And I am very particular (read snobbish) about what I drink. So, to try and replace dairy in my beloved coffee is a struggle. I have a hard time handling dairy (except for yogurt….Siggi’s….yummmm) and I would like to find a suitable replacement. So, the hubby and I went to the store, read labels and tried to find a jumping off point. We bought all unsweetened nut milks and a strange milk called Veggimo that I am terrified to try. So far we have ruled out anything with almonds in it. I feel the almonds, once combined with coffee, taste like black-eyed peas. Yuck. This morning I tried adding honey, with half regular milk and half macadamia milk. It was ok but had a strange aftertaste that I think is the honey. So, I bought the sweetened version of the macadamia milk and I am going to try that tomorrow. I’m not a fan of sweet in my coffee, so we shall see how it goes. I’ll keep you updated!

  1. Oh Wendy, how awesome is that hommous!!! I love making my own, tahini is cool stuff to use 😁 and I’ll have to ask my other half, the coffee drinker, for any non dairy tips, but I would only use honey with tea as a sweetener 😊 Good luck xxx Skye
